I believe Sylvania, the 44th District, and Northwest Ohio need an independent voice for real progress in Columbus. As a third-generation architect and Sylvania City Council member, I’ve spent my life building our community, not a political career. I have seen incredible results when political game-playing and ego are set aside to find solutions, and I want to do the same at the statehouse. The two parties are stuck grasping for power while major issues affecting families go unaddressed and get worse. As an independent who answers directly to the district, I can help break the stalemate and get things done. I am a candidate to give District 44 an independent voice for better government in Ohio, through practical solutions rather than partisan gridlock.
People are stretched thin and need the cost of essentials like property taxes, groceries, healthcare, and utilities to be lower. State budgets have reduced funds returning to local communities, resulting in higher property taxes. Supporting the Fair School Funding Plan, restoring the Local Government Fund, and working hard to fund local government capital improvement projects will help reduce financial burdens and lower property taxes. In addition, since the largest public corruption case in Ohio history in 2019, stricter oversight of anti-corruption and consumer protection is necessary to keep costs down for utilities, groceries, and healthcare.
Keeping Ohio a good place for business, creating new jobs, and growing Ohio’s economy benefits us all.
Public education is valuable and important, and needs to be properly funded. Both parties agreed to the Fair School Funding Plan, but the current Budget Bill falls short by $400m, even though it is required by law. In addition, the current version of the voucher system weakens public education. The intention of school vouchers was to give students in failing schools a chance at a better opportunity, not to discount the cost of private education for high-income families in successful public school districts. Both of these realities are placing an undue burden on the local level and contributing to higher property taxes.
A direct highway from Northwest Ohio to Columbus unlocks economic opportunities.
We need to work hard to return tax dollars to the 44th District for local government capital improvement projects. The Local Government Fund needs to be restored and tax dollars shared.

Reduce government spending and uphold fiscal responsibility for long-term quality of life.
Voting and elections policy must be fair, accessible, and secure. I support Voter ID and oppose making it harder for eligible citizens to vote. Vote by Mail and ballot drop boxes are long-standing, reliable methods that are both accessible and secure. Open primaries, ranked-choice voting, ending gerrymandering, and maintaining the ballot initiative process should be nonpartisan issues to ensure every vote counts and our government properly represents its citizens. The “C” shape of District 44 is evidence that partisan gerrymandering is an ongoing issue in Ohio that directly affects Sylvania, District 44, and Northwest Ohio.
All taxpayers must pay a fair amount of tax. High-income earners can currently use advantageous tax laws to reduce or even eliminate their tax liability. Similarly, we need to take a close look at loopholes and tax breaks for big corporations and private companies. Tax breaks are an effective tool for short-term gains, but often increase tax complexity, mask bad policy, and skew benefits towards specific industries. We need to confirm that any narrow deductions and credits serve the long-term benefit of a broadly stable economy with a high quality of life, without burdening future generations. Keeping Ohio the #1 place for business, creating new jobs, and growing Ohio’s economy benefits us all… and can include all of us paying our fair share.
